Today was the first snow of the year, and the animals we not to happy with it, unlike myself. I love to work out in the snow. Everything just seems so bright and clean to me. The goats stayed in the new barn most of the day, unless I was out there unloading hay, straw, or their feed. They always think they are starving... but trust me they're not!
Maxie is a prime example of what I was talking about. She looks pregnant, but really she's just fat.
During this kind of weather it is always important to make sure your animals are getting enough food (with lots of protein). They will depend more on hay during this kind of weather rather than grain, and I am not saying they do not need grain, they definitely do! But they will gravitate more towards hay.
Water is another major key year round. I suggest investing in water heaters so you don't have to break ice every few hours, but if you don't want to invest the money in that you can also try salt water bottles! Put about two-three table spoons of any kind of salt into a empty water bottle, then fill the water bottle up until you get about an inch from the top. For a 5 gallon bucket I recommend 3-4 water bottles.
One more important thing to remember is minerals. I leave mineral blocks out year round in the barn for them to use as they please. During the winter I make sure they have more than enough to last them.
I also clean out their barns quite often just so no parasites get in the ground, and just so they always have fresh clean bedding. For the barns with the moms and babies I use wood chips, but the large barn I use straw.
Little Jackson (my bottle baby) didn't like the snow either, but we still got some super cute pictures in it though :)
Recently I have been planning to redo my room. Like all teenagers I spend a lot of time in my room. So, naturally I would like for my room to express my style. I used to be really into green and yellow colors as you can tell from the before pictures. Then there's also some blues, purples, yellows, and pinks. A couple months ago I started to redo my room. Halfway through the process I realized this theme still wasn't really my style. I decided to go on Pinterest ( If you want follow me on Pinterest to see the board I made! Username: emmaragsdale2 ) and look up some room ideas that might inspire me. I soon found some beautiful themes. I now plan to have navy blue and blush pink as the main colors with pops of white and gray mixed in.
These are the before pictures of my room, and below is my goal or idea of what my room will look like after.
